[Mac] Simple Floating Clock !!BETTER!!

just out of curiosity, what's wrong with using one of the (numerous) analog clock screen savers? Assumedly if you're "at a distance" you're not using your machine directly, so no problem with the screen saver coming on. heck, you could probably even use quartz composer and whip up an analog clock screensaver with a translucent background.

[Mac] Simple Floating Clock

When I'm teaching in class; the screen saver never comes on, and I'm moving around the classroom. Also, I'm often moving around in the studio, which has the screen savers disabled, and the analog clock is the only one I can see clearly at a glance. But even when I'm sitting with it in my lap, a quick glance at an analog clock is easier than the digital clock. My brain just parses it faster. Plus, I think it's more elegant.

Digital Clock 3D brings you retro tube clocks, the latest OLED timepieces, and everything in between with this live wallpaper. Choose the style you like most or leave it to chance, savoring the ultra-realistic 3D graphics!

Big Clock is a nice and simple digital clock for your desktop. Once installed the clock will appear on your dock and when you click on its icon it will show a big digital clock on the bottom left corner of your screen.

The 1999 standard of the C programming language supports the FMA operation through the fma() standard math library function and the automatic transformation of a multiplication followed by an addition (contraction of floating-point expressions), which can be explicitly enabled or disabled with standard pragmas (#pragma STDC FP_CONTRACT). The GCC and Clang C compilers do such transformations by default for processor architectures that support FMA instructions. With GCC, which does not support the aforementioned pragma,[12] this can be globally controlled by the -ffp-contract command line option.[13]

Timer is a simple chronometer application. Enter a value and click Start to count down any number of hours, minutes, and seconds, or start at zero to track elapsed time. It has the following features:

Those who miss Windows 8 floating clock after upgrading to Windows 10 and want to bring it on Windows 10 desktop, here is a very simple and tiny application. It is named the same Floating Clock.

To bring the floating clock, you need to press Alt+C hotkey. The floating clock will immediately visible at the bottom right side. You can hide the clock by right-clicking the tray icon or clicking on somewhere else.

This is a simpler solution to make it possible to use Windows 8 like floating clock on Windows 10. Just a simple hotkey is all you need to press to bring that clock. Also, there are many other options coming in future, which will make this software more useful.

If you're looking for an unobtrusive alarm clock and reminder for your Mac, Pester should probably do the job. The application, presented in an elegant and clear interface, allows you to set timely reminders and multiple alarms.Enter your reminder message, if you want it to repeat and when it pops up. You can choose what sound will play to alert you, even choosing a voice to speak the message to you.Pester literally takes seconds to set up and once ready will not "pester" you until your reminder pops up on the screen. Pester is clean, efficient and uses up very little memory. The only little issue we had with it is that it doesn't show missed reminders. It does include a countdown to your next reminders though, which you can view by opening up the application. You can also dig in the program log to look at past reminders. A tiny yet effective tool, Pester will allow you to set up alarms and reminders in seconds.

Versal adaptive compute acceleration platforms (ACAPs) combine Scalar Engines, Adaptable Engines, and Intelligent Engines with leading-edge memory and interfacing technologies to deliver powerful heterogeneous acceleration for any application.Intelligent Engines are SIMD VLIW AI Engines for adaptive inference and advanced signal processing compute, and DSP Engines for fixed point, floating point, and complex MAC operations.

In this pipeline one can see the data selection and shuffling units; PMXL, PMXR, and PMC. The pre-add (PRA) is just before the multiply block and then two lane reduction blocks (PSA, PSB) allows to perform up to 128 multiplies and get an output on 16 lanes down to two lanes. The accumulator block is fed either by its own output (AM) or by the upshift output. The feedback on the ACC block is only one clock cycle.

In this pipeline one can see that the selection and shuffling units (PMXL, PMC) are the same as in the fixed-point unit. Unlike the fixed-point pipeline there is no lane reduction unit, so the lanes that you have at the input will also be there at the output. Another difference is that the post-accumulator is on two clock cycles. If the goal is to reuse the same accumulator over and over, only one fpmac per two clock cycles can be issued.

Output is the opposite of its input. Input can be either float or cfloat forming a 512-bit or a 1024-bit buffer (v32float, v16float, v16cfloat, v8cfloat). The output is a 256-bit buffer as all the floating-point operators (v8float, v4cfloat).

The simple floating-point multiplier comes in many different flavors mixing or not float and cfloat vector data types. When two cfloat are involved, the intrinsic results in two microcode instructions that must be scheduled. The first buffer can be either 512 or 1024-bit long (v32float, v16float, v16cfloat, v8cfloat), the second buffer is always 256-bit long (v8float, v4cfloat). Any combination is allowed.

As there is no post-add lane reduction hardware in the floating-point pipeline of the AI Engine, all outputs will always be on eight lanes (float) or four lanes (cfloat). This means that we can compute eight (four) lanes in parallel, each time with a single coefficient, using fpmul and then fpmac for all the coefficients, one by one.

The floating-point accumulator has a latency of two clock cycles, so two fpmac instructions using the same accumulator cannot be used back to back, but only every other cycle. Code can be optimized by using two accumulators, used in turn, that get added at the end to get the final result.

In this example, a matrix multiply (AB) example is shown with the simple fpmul and fpmac intrinsics in the real and complex case. In the complex case there are also two other examples using the fpmul_conf and fpmac_conf intrinsics to compute AB and A*conj(B).

A Flash clock was kindly sent to me by Juan Carlos Tejedor, from Zaragoza (Spain), who says that he first saw a 24 hour analog clock in an episode of ER on TV. He modified an example supplied by Macromedia.

In 1852 Charles Shepherd installed a new clock outside the gate of the Royal Observatory at Greenwich. This was an electrically operated clock, one of the earliest ever made, and it was controlled by a master clock mechanism inside the main building.

TimeDisc is a clever, ingenious, and elegant clock that uses coloured sectors. The clock can float over other windows, and can be transparent too. It also can appear in the Dock and in the menu bar. Andreas Mayer, the author, has added a 24 hour option.

This application is a free clock-construction kit, with the ability to define 12 and 24 hour analog and digital clocks. You can play with it for hours! The clocks you build run natively in OS X in floating, transparent windows, although the editor is a Classic-only application.

Clock screensavers are especially useful screensavers in that they show you the time of day, and sometimes also the current date and day of the week, so that you can keep an eye on it even when you are away from the computer. Clocks range from straightforward analog clockfaces, pendulums and digital wall clocks to unique and abstract depictions of time.

Floating-point arithmetic is considered an esoteric subject by many people. This is rather surprising because floating-point is ubiquitous in computer systems. Almost every language has a floating-point datatype; computers from PCs to supercomputers have floating-point accelerators; most compilers will be called upon to compile floating-point algorithms from time to time; and virtually every operating system must respond to floating-point exceptions such as overflow. This paper presents a tutorial on those aspects of floating-point that have a direct impact on designers of computer systems. It begins with background on floating-point representation and rounding error, continues with a discussion of the IEEE floating-point standard, and concludes with numerous examples of how computer builders can better support floating-point.
